Points to consider when thinking about CCTV
- What do you want to achieve?
- Recognition
To be able to determine/recognize who/what you are viewing in the cameras field of view
Overview
To be able to see that there is someone or something in the cameras field of view but not defined.
This will determine what type of cameras are to be used, and the best equipment for the job in question to fit your budget.
- What areas do you want covered?
- What distance are the cameras to be mounted from the area
What object do they want to cover ie.machinery/doors etc.
This will determine what size of lens to use - the smaller the mm of the lens then the wider the angle of view
- What amount of recording storage do you require?
- 1, 2, 3 weeks etc? Determines size of hard drives used and record
rate on DVR
- What is the ambient light in the area during the day and night?
- Determines which camera and lens to use i.e. Color or Day/Night - Lens with an IR cut Filter etc. A lot of cameras will not work well with street lighting and different floodlights so in turn will you need to install some IR Lamps or white lights - also take into consideration when positioning a camera with regards to existing lighting at night and the sun during the day
- Do the cameras need to be vandal resistant?
- We can ararnge for high security, vandal resistant equipment, to suit your needs
- Domes or full bodied cameras?
- Do you want the cameras to be a bit discreet or stick out- generally
- internally customers tend to opt for domes -externally- housed cameras
as they stick out and it makes it clear that CCTV is in operation
- Don't forget to put up CCTV Recording Signs, it's a legal requirement
